Syrdarya region

The Republic of Uzbekistan received a World Bank (WB) loan to finance the Water Supply Services and Institutional Support (WASIS) Project. The project will finance priority policy, institutional and infrastructure activities at the national and regional levels to promote sector sustainability and accelerate progress towards the government’s development goals. Moreover, the programmatic approach will contribute to the ongoing sector reform process through comprehensive and consistent support to address existing challenges and constraints, including support to the efficiency improvement process, strengthening the policy and planning system at the central level, as well as institutional capacity for monitoring and regulation.

The WASIS project is designed to: (i) improve the coverage, quality and efficiency of water supply and sanitation services in selected project areas; and (ii) strengthen the capacity of sector institutions to improve the quality of service delivery.
